Website audit for e-commerce stores
Store sites fail at catalog scale: one template bug blanks a thousand product pages at once. The audit checks your 25 most important pages — home, collections, product templates, checkout-adjacent pages — and names every offender, for £7.99 once.
260+ checks · up to 25 pages · PDF report by email in ~30 minutes · no site access needed.
The short version
Where online stores break first
Template-level SEO failures. In our 28-audit corpus, meta descriptions were flagged on 27 of 28 sites and Open Graph tags on 25 of 28 — and on stores, both are usually a template field left empty, so every product page inherits the same hole. Your products' Google snippets and WhatsApp/Facebook share previews are being written by the algorithm by default.
Mixed content on catalog pages. One old image URL pasted into a product description or theme setting downgrades the whole page to 'Not secure' — on the exact pages where a buyer weighs whether to enter a card number. The browser bar does the selling against you.
Checkout trust signals. Missing security headers, expired-soon certificates, session cookies without the Secure flag, version banners advertising an ancient server — the mechanical signals a cautious buyer (or their bank's fraud filter) can trip over. These are the checks free scanners skip; every paid report includes them.
Structured data and social previews. Product schema and OG tags decide how your listing and shares look before anyone clicks. Missing or broken, you compete with a worse hand on every product.
Mechanical checks, honest limits
Platform-aware: the engine fingerprints the stack (385 fingerprints — Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, custom), and findings reference the platform where the cause is platform-specific. No app install, no read access to your admin — public pages only, crawled like a search engine. Full disclosure: some things can't be checked from outside your site, and we say which. The full 21-category audit is described on the landing page; what it costs and how it compares to doing it yourself are on their own pages.
The mechanical half
Checked across up to 25 pages per audit, with every offending page named and the exact fix spelled out.
- meta descriptions, titles, H1s, OG tags on every audited page — template holes surface as findings naming every sampled product URL
- mixed content and insecure assets flagged per page, with the offending URLs listed
- the security examination: TLS config, certificate expiry, session-cookie flags, version banners
- structured-data and AI-readiness checks (can ChatGPT read and cite your product pages)
- platform fingerprinting across 385 tech stacks, so fixes name the right settings screen
— Not ours to claim
The honest limits for stores:
- 25 pages is a sample, not a crawl of the catalog. A 5,000-SKU store gets its most important 25 pages. The audit proves your templates; it does not guarantee every listing. Pair it with a full crawler if you need per-SKU coverage.
- No login, no cart. The audit sees public pages only. It cannot place a test order, see your checkout flow past its public shell, or read your order pipeline.
- No conversion data. It checks the mechanical signals; it does not measure revenue impact. Your analytics own that.
- Point-in-time. Seasonal campaigns and theme changes after the crawl are invisible until the next report.
Fair questions, straight answers
Does this audit cover my whole product catalog?
No — up to 25 pages per audit, chosen for importance (home, collections, a spread of product pages). That is enough to prove whether your templates are sound, because a template defect shows identically on every sampled product page. For per-SKU coverage of a large catalog you need a full-site crawler; for 'are my templates and trust signals broken', 25 pages is the right sample.
Does it work with Shopify / WooCommerce / Wix?
Yes — the engine fingerprints 385 technology stacks and platform-specific findings reference the right settings screen. Nothing to install: the audit crawls public pages exactly as a search engine does, so it works on hosted platforms with no app or plugin access.
Will it check my checkout page?
It checks what is publicly reachable of the checkout-adjacent pages — trust badges' pages, policy pages, the TLS and cookie configuration of the session. It cannot log in or complete a test purchase, so it does not audit the in-cart flow. Your payment provider (Stripe, PayPal) owns the card-form security itself.
Can it find why my product pages don't show in Google?
It finds the on-page causes — noindex tags, missing meta, thin or duplicated content, canonical mistakes, broken structured data. Off-page causes (no links, new domain, penalties) are covered in our guide to a website not showing up on Google, with manual checks for each.
Is one report enough for a store that changes weekly?
One report is one day's evidence. Stores that ship weekly re-order after major changes — new theme, migration, bulk listing import — and treat £7.99 as the cost of checking a template change, which is exactly the change most likely to break a thousand pages at once.
