Quick answer

The short version

Most local-business sites fail on a short, fixable list: the site is invisible or nearly so on Google, contact details don't match across the web, the browser says 'Not secure', or the pages never told Google what town you serve. The audit checks all of that mechanically — plus the security pack free scanners skip — and ranks the findings by what they cost you. If your site isn't showing up at all, start with our free guide: website not showing up on Google — 16 causes, ranked, then order the report to find which ones apply to you. What it can't see: your Google Business Profile, your reviews, your rank positions — those live in Google's world, not on your site.
Failure profile for this audience

What actually goes wrong on local-business sites

The site barely exists to Google. No sitemap submitted, robots.txt blocking the crawler, noindex left from the launch checklist, or a site too new to have any links. Roughly in that order of likelihood — all checkable, all fixable in a day.

NAP signals don't add up. Name, address and phone that differ between the site's footer, the contact page and your listings teach Google to hedge. The audit checks that contact details are present, marked up and consistent across your pages — the on-site half of NAP consistency.

The 'Not secure' warning on the one page customers trust least. Usually a single switch at your host — but a bar saying 'Not secure' on a site asking for a booking is a silent bounce.

Nobody told Google where you are. Missing LocalBusiness structured data, no town or service-area wording on the pages that matter, meta descriptions missing on 27 of the 28 real sites in our corpus — the basics that decide whether you surface for 'plumber near me'.

What the £7.99 report checks — and what it can't

Mechanical checks, honest limits

No plugins, no logins, no technical knowledge needed: enter your URL, pay £7.99, read the report. Every finding says what is wrong, why it matters, and the concrete fix — many fixes need no developer at all. Full disclosure: some things can't be checked from outside your site, and we say which. The full 21-category audit is described on the landing page; what it costs and how it compares to doing it yourself are on their own pages.

Mapped to this audience
  • whether Google can find and crawl your site at all (robots.txt, sitemap, noindex, server errors)
  • contact and location signals: NAP presence and consistency across your pages, LocalBusiness structured data
  • the 'Not secure' causes: certificate problems, mixed content, cookie flags
  • the basics that decide snippets and shares: titles, meta descriptions, headings, Open Graph tags
  • how AI assistants read your site (AI-Readiness score — 'ask ChatGPT for a plumber nearby' is a real channel now)

— Not ours to claim

The honest limits for local visibility:

Honest limits
  • We cannot see your Google Business Profile. Maps ranking, review counts, categories, photos, opening hours — that is Google's data, not your site's, and no external report can audit it. Claim and check it yourself at google.com/business; it is free and it matters more than most on-site fixes for map results.
  • We do not check your rankings. 'Position 4 for emergency plumber leeds' is a rank-tracker question; the audit checks your site, not your position.
  • 25 pages, not your whole site. For a typical local business (5–30 pages) that is the entire site. Bigger sites get the important 25.
  • No reviews or off-site listings. Yelp, directories, Facebook — outside the site's walls. Consistency with them is on you to eyeball; the report gives you the exact strings to compare.
FAQs

Fair questions, straight answers

My website doesn't show up on Google at all. Is this report what I need?

Start free: our guide, website not showing up on Google — 16 causes ranked, walks the two-minute diagnosis. If the site is findable but weak, or the guide's checks all pass, the report finds the on-site causes the guide can't: crawl-blocking errors, noindex tags, thin content, missing structured data. If the guide says your site is brand new with no links, no report fixes that — links and time do.

Does the report help me rank on Google Maps?

Only indirectly. Maps ranking is driven mostly by your Google Business Profile, reviews and distance — none of which live on your website. What the report does is fix the site half: consistent NAP, LocalBusiness schema, a site Google can crawl and trust. Do both; they compound.

I'm not technical. Will I understand the report?

Yes — that is the product's point. Findings are written in plain English, ranked by what they cost you, each with a concrete fix. Many top findings (the 'Not secure' switch, missing meta descriptions, contact details) need no developer. Anything bigger, the report is written to hand straight to one.

Why £7.99 and not a monthly SEO service?

Because most local-business sites don't need monitoring — they need the broken things found and fixed once. A monthly retainer re-checks what was already reported. Fix the list, and if something changes later, order another £7.99 report. No subscription is deliberate.

What if my site is on Wix, Squarespace or a website builder?

Fully supported — the engine fingerprints 385 platforms, and fixes reference the right builder settings (SEO description fields, visibility toggles). Two of the most common local-business failures — a 'coming soon' mode left on after launch, and builder privacy settings blocking search engines — are exactly what the audit catches.
